Chapter One- Your Story Unfolds
((Note- This is in the time period of D. Gray-man, but I mixed school in but that is the only modern thing added))
Summer vacation from school was always something to look forward to. No tests or homework and especially no classmates. Unknown to you was this time something would change your life and you had no idea it was happening - until it hit full force. It's hard to say when it truly began but a story starts somewhere so why not begin with what started everything.
School was ending in England, finals were happening, and your school year was coming to a close. Everything seemed happy, if not a little stressed with studying which was no problem to you. Acing classes was easy for you and you were more than glad to tutor your friend Naru in the process. Naru is your best friend. She has long brown curly hair, light blue eyes, and always an optimistic spirit.
You both have done everything together and during these last weeks helped each other out with the subjects the two of you were lacking. During free time was spent played video games or going places together. You guess when everything seems perfect is when disaster strikes the hardest.
Naru's mother died and she was hurt the most from it. Her mom was everything to her. Sure she had a father but she and her mom were closer than most kids. To help her through this you pretty much came to live with her since she was your best friend. Your parents and her dad agreed to it till the funeral date even if you was not too much of a help. On school days she sulked, cried, and secluded herself from everyone around her. During the weekends she refused to even leave her bed! Sometimes you had to beg her to eat or take a bath or take care of herself. It only got worse when school ended. You felt terrible that it was getting so bad. When you got her out of the house it was a miracle. Even if she smiled or at least tried, it made you happy.
Then came the day she dreaded most. It was time for her to watch them bury her mother. You helped her get packed for the funeral in Germany,  because she seemed not to have any energy to do it herself. When she left You went home and prepared for her return, wondering what to say to help her get over this tragedy.
Days passed while she was gone and you had picked up mthe daily routine of summer vacation. June was ending and Naru would be returning in the beginning of July. It was normal and happy and fun. All you had to worry about was when she came back and you had to lighten her spirits. That's what's supposed to happen right? That she'd come back sad, depressed, or at least in need of a friend to help her through these rough times.
You was wrong. And boy were you shocked at what happened!
When she returned, she seemed.... different. She wasn't sad at all, neither did she act normally. Her face had this smile when she returned and it wasn't comforting to you at all. You know you should have been happy she wasn't mourning but that's the thing. It was that she wasn't!
You didn't know anything at the time of what had happened at the funeral. All you did was sum it up as a way to cope with her mom's death, that she'd get over it soon. A phase that would pass as fast as it came. Only it kept going on for weeks. If only you knew, fate could have dealt you a better hand of what was to follow.
During that time people in town started to disappear. Neighbors, your parent's coworkers, friends, and even this girl that picked on you daily. Just up and disappeared into thin air. Their families had posted photos of lost relatives yet no one responded. More and more people going missing. This unsettled you a lot.
You talked about it to Naru and then she took your hand. Giving you that smile she wore these days.
“Let me show you something.” She responded.
She didn't even let you speak for yourself before pulling you up from where you sat, leading you to where she planned to go. You were clueless at first but once the two of you left the town limits and headed west, You knew exactly where she was heading.
She was leading you straight to the graveyard. The graveyard was secluded from civilization and large enough to cover afew acres. No one ever really went in except for grave robbers or murderers hiding the bodies. Also it was always foggy. Of course you were clueless why she would ever want you to go in there and what was about to happen. Going there is where everything went wrong. This is where your story begins.
I was bored one class period so I started writing a story and before I knew it, D. Gray-man was all in my head and I sorta created something. I showed my friends and they enjoyed it and told me to change it to a First Person OC to a Reader-Insert. I hope you enjoy and tell me how you like it. If there are any mistakes please notify me. Don't be too harsh though because this is my first Reader-Insert and story I have ever been proud of.
NOTE- This takes place before ANYBODY DIES
I do not own D. Gray-man, D. Gray Man characters, or you
I do own the stroy and some OCs such as Naru
